5/5 - by PeteAlan at Gotham Guitar Works is friendly and really knows guitars. He gave me unbiased information about my guitars and actually recommended that I did not put the money into repairing my old Yamaha (lifting bridge and bad neck set). He did however repair the snapped headstock on my Gibson Les Paul and set it up. It now plays better than it ever. Honest and expert - I totally recommend him to anyone.
1/5 - by RobnewPro\'s somewhat friendly. Con\'s always backed up so takes a lot of time.Messy small shop. Guitar came back marked up which was a concern. Should protect the instrument more while doing the work.Lot\'s of add on charges to the basic setup.Work ok but not up to other shops in the area.
5/5 - by AllanI am the owner of Gotham Guitar Works and am concerned about Robnew\'s review. I now focus on other projects and only do a very limited amount of guitar repair, however my reputation is important to me. It is true that I was often backed up - that was the price of popularity and it is true that my shop is small and often messy (little time to clean). However, I am very concerned that Robnew had the impression that his guitar came back marked up. I always take great care with owner instruments. If he had informed me of any damaged I would have been sure to take any complaint seriously and attempt to make amends had it been my responsibility. I am always very clear about what I charge for services. Guitar setup is just that - the setup of the instrument. Associated repairs and additional services do cost extra. My costs are based on time. If I subsidize one owners repair by including it with a setup, then I have to charge others more to compensate, which is not fair on them.
