I went to all the shops listed in this area, and only Willcutt had a professional shop ca[able of any level of repair. They radiused and refretted my Les Paul and it plays better than when it was new! I am going to bring my Martin in next for a neck set and then my Strat. They are the best!

They did an amazing repair on my old Martin. They straightened the neck and top and got it playing better than new, and they were so nice.

I trust my guitars to no one else. Whether it’s sorting out a buzzing fret or a complete guitar restoration, this is the place to get it done. The finished product is evidence of the knowledge, experience, care and attention to detail that each instrument receives. Nothing leaves the shop until it is right; these guys stand behind their work. And their work is superb! I recently acquired an early 60’s Gibson SG Junior that was in terrible condition; nothing on the guitar was the original equipment. The guitar had been sandblasted; removing the “Gibson” logo and stripping the finish down to the bare mahogany – now rough and grooved. The frets were shot and a few position dots missing, but the neck was straight. When the notion struck me to have it restored I naturally thought of Willcutt Guitars. I proposed the project to Bob Willcutt and he assured me, “We can take it as far as you want to go.” Well I wanted it to look, sound and play like it did when it was new. A vintage P-90 pickup, some reproduction parts and an excellent bit of refinishing made the little SG look and sound like new! With the masterful fretwork and custom setup my guess is that it plays better than when it came from the factory. What a sweet little guitar! And all made possible by Willcutt Guitars. When my guitars need some attention or repair I want them in the hands of these professionals. But it’s more than a simple business deal – service for cash. The atmosphere is friendly as well as professional. I feel like I’m leaving my guitar with a trusted friend.

I had my grandfather\'s old Gibson that had been in a flood. They did some wonderful things and it plays like new, but still has the old look. They were friendly, and they really know their stuff.

I\'ve never worked with anyone that has been as open minded, innovative and helpful as these guys. Not to mention the most important thing - they do better quality work (especially fret work) than anyone I\'ve ever worked with or met.

I know many fine musicians from all parts of the world. One thing they have in common is Bob Willcutt. They all know and respect him as the definitive authority on guitars. Bob is also a pretty good guy. We (the Kentucky brethren of musicians) are all better off having Bob and Willcutt Guitars in our lives.

I recently moved from Nashville and was starting to get REALLY bummed out about the dearth of real guitar shops in Lexington. I guess I was spoiled a little while living in \'Music City\' and having access to some of the world\'s most highly respected guitar shops. Finding Willcutt, I breathed a sigh of relief. These are knowledgeable, older gentlemen (sorry, I\'m biased - I like my guitar guy to be old enough to recall the Nixon administration), and the work they did on my Gibson acoustic was worth every penny. I can see how some might perceive the fellas to appear a tad \'frosty,\' but do you want a glorified Wal Mart greeter or true craftsmen who know what they\'re doing? I will definitely be back to Willcutt for any and all guitar needs.

Dropping of your guitar can be like dropping off your child, you can trust that your guitar will be well cared for while in Willcut\'s hands. Bob and his staff are very knowledgeable when it comes to repairs on your guitar. I\'ve had various repairs, some simple some complex, completed by Willcut and his staff and I\'ve always been very happy with the result. They know their business!

Willcutt Guitar Shoppe has been repairing my humble collection guitars since 1975. The one thing that stands out over all these years is how Bob repairs my 1975 Univox Hy-Flyer with the same care as my 1953 Gibson L-7. It is amazing how necks and frets can need attention so quicky. They wear down so slowly its hard to notice. Recently, Bob recommended that I go to regular maintence on my front line guitars. I took him up on his suggestion. When I got my custom built Strat back from a neck and fret job, It was though I was playing the thing for the first time. Thank you Bob Willcutt, I look forward to many more years of playing well maintained guitars!
