Brian has been repairing stringed instruments professionally since he first began working at Gordie Brandts music center in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan many years ago. By observing his father Marinus Brian picked up the basics of repair work and gathered experience that would guide him through a career in stringed instrument repair and Lutherie. "It's come a long, long way since then". After returning to Ontario Brian began working at the Ottawa Folklore Center where he was involved with the school of music and then retail manager. " This was a very enjoyable time but working on string instruments is what really hits the high notes for me." Brian then apprenticed with Edward V. Dick , who had just moved in to Ottawa from Peterborough, Ontario.
(Edward is the founder of "Eds Musical Workshop", in Peterborough) Ed brought years of experience with him and is considered one of North Americas Premier Luthiers. He now runs a new shop in Denver Colorado. Check out Edwards web site at www.evd303.com. " I learned a lot from Edward. It was Ed who really got things going for me" Since the beginning Brian has repaired thousands of instruments and he is still going strong!
